Tuesday, May 21, 2024
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Business and Community Center

Working on a book? Interested in starting to write one or enhancing your process?

Regardless of the type of book, seeing a book through from concept to launch involves many steps. Some things to consider:

  • Why are you writing a book?
  • How about your first draft? Why do you need readers of your manuscript?
  • Why have an editor? What about a cover designer or a typesetter?
  • What are the pros and cons of traditional publishing and self-publishing?
  • How do you choose a publisher?
  • What is an ISBN, and why is it important?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of selling online?
  • Why choose to create an eBook or an audiobook?

Whether you already have a finished novel or are simply curious about the process, this session will touch on important considerations throughout this journey.

John Wendell Adams is the author of the Jack Alexander trilogy; made up of Betrayal, Payback, and Ruthless. His most recent novel was a finalist for the New Generation Indie Book Award, thriller category. He'll use his own experience and decisions to walk participants through the process of creating a book and getting it out into the world.

Before writing fiction, John wrote A Man’s Story, a motivational series for men. He spent more than 30 years in business working as a senior leader for IBM, CDI, Aragon Consulting, Berclain, and SaYes Consulting.
